What's New in Arroyo View Estates aka Garvanza aka Highland Park aka Los Angeles (90042)

Richard Perez and Paul Kent, greater Pasadena, California REALTORS, have lived in Arroyo View Estates for over ten years and think it was one of the most striking areas of Los Angeles (Highland Park / Garvanza.)  It was a hillside housing development built in the early 1960s at the terminus of Avenue 66.  You can also enter Arroyo View Estates from Avenue 64 & as you climb up Church Street be sure to pull over near the top of Church Street to catch one of the best views of Downtown Los Angeles.  When it was initially developed in the early 1960s, the Rams had been in Los Angeles for a short while but the Dodgers had just moved from New York to Los Angeles, so a few of the first homeowners were ballplayers & their families.  This part of Highland Park is also known as Garvanza and many locals feel it is one of the most beautiful parts of the City of Los Angeles.  Arroyo View Estates is adjacent to Pasadena city limits and just a short bike ride or walk to South Pasadena.  Located between the 110 & 134 freeways and close to Gold Line &/or bus stops, it is easy for the residents of Arroyo View Estates to get around the greater Los Angeles area.  Many people are attracted to the area by the diverse mix of people found in the area and others simply like the clean classic Mid-Century homes.  It is close to Downtown, Old Town Pasadena, and the shops and eateries on Colorado Boulevard in Eagle Rock.  Some parts of the local hillsides are free of development, so many homes have great views of hillsides, Downtown Los Angeles, the City of Pasadena, &/or the City of South Pasadena.  It is a quiet neighborhood that enjoys a countryside feel but it is only minutes away from all that Southern California has to offer.

Highland Park has a Tuesday Farmer's Market; enjoy eats at Folliero's, Good Girl Dinette, or Villa Sombrero.  Shop at the original Forever 21 on Figueroa.  Visit Highland Park's own Statute of Liberty, Chicken Boy, atop Future Studio on Figueroa.  Catch a first run movie at the Highland Theater on Figueroa at a steeply discounted price when compared to other Los Angeles area theaters or be entertained at Mr. T's or the Little Cave.

Easy bike ride, walk or car ride to Rose Bowl, shops & eateries along Colorado Boulevard in Eagle Rock, San Pasqual Stables in South Pasadena, the Arroyo Seco, etc.
